2014 End of Year Giving Campaign -
Your Contribution Ensures Quality Programming in North Texas in 2015!
Dear Museum Friend,
As we wrap up 2014, the Museum of the American Railroad has much in the way of accomplishments to celebrate! I am contacting you to highlight some of our services to the community over the past year, and ask for your financial support to continue our good work through the Museum's ongoing operations.
One of the most frequently asked questions here at the railroad museum is, "When are you going to open?" While a grand opening at the new Frisco site is still in the offing, the answer is that we never really closed.
During one of the most ambitious museum relocation projects in recent years, and following completion of the move last fall, the Museum of the American Railroad continued to serve thousands of individuals in North Texas. In 2014, over 35,000 visitors benefited from the Museum's general exhibits, educational programs, and annual Day Out with Thomas event in Grapevine. And, as Phase II construction gets underway, significant progress is also being made towards providing additional programs to a broader audience.
All of these services are provided at an overall operating budget of less than $300,000 per year including administrative support for all other Museum activities. However, with the Museum's new site still under construction, operating revenue is limited, and your support is needed to ensure quality programming that meets the needs of the growing North Texas community. Please consider providing operating support either online (below) by credit card, or by check. Checks can be mailed to: Museum of the American Railroad, 6455 Page Street, Frisco, TX 75034. Your gift is tax-deductible, as the Museum is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation.
Since 2011, we have placed an emphasis on delivering quality, relevant programming from our new home in Frisco. Partnering with the City of Frisco, the Museum has hosted visitors to our interim exhibits and Museum Store at the Frisco Heritage Museum. We also received a great response to our summer/fall onsite walking tour programs, which are scheduled to resume in early 2015. Further, we have hosted thousands of children through educational programs, both at the Heritage Museum and in classrooms. We have identified great need for the Museum's unique collection & exhibits, and we continue to work with teachers and administrators to develop and refine programs.
In fact, the Museum launched its 2014-2015 academic year Educational Program Directory
, which features STEM and TEKS compliant programming for Texas schools. We recently added a full-time Director of Education to further develop and implement programs that provide much-needed history and technology components not currently available in schools.
As a friend of the Museum, I would like to thank you for helping us serve a larger audience from our new home in Frisco, and encourage you to make a financial gift to our annual campaign.
Best wishes for the holiday season!
