Big Boy Steam Locomotive Arrives at its New Home in Frisco
The Museum's "Big Boy" steam locomotive #4018, a gift of the Union Pacific Railroad 48 years ago, arrived at its new, permanent home in Frisco yesterday.  The 1.2 million lb. engine, regarded as the largest of its type in the world, was eased into the Museum of the American Railroad's facility at 2:20pm.

Big Boy #4018 Makes First Leg of Journey to Frisco
The Museum's Big Boy steam locomotive #4018 made the first leg of its journey from Dallas to Frisco yesterday.  It arrived in South Irving, the interchange point between the Dallas, Garland & Northeastern Railroad and BNSF Railway.  Witnessed by hundreds of onlookers and supporters, the trip was uneventful with no mechanical issues along the way.

Good Morning Texas features Big Boy
The Museum would like to thank Channel 8 and the Frisco CVB for the wonderful piece that aired on today's Good Morning Texas show.  The segment highlighted local artist Sonya Terpening's beautiful, original work of art featuring the Museum's "Big Boy" steam locomotive #4018.

Amtrak: America's Railroad for 40 Years!
In celebration of Amtrak’s 40th anniversary, America’s Railroadsm is offering the public an opportunity to view an Exhibit Train, a unique traveling display showcasing the railroad’s history.  The train will be on display January  7th-8th at the Amtrak Station (1001 Jones Street) in downtown Fort Worth.  Event hours are 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Museum's Old Fair Park Site Dismantled

It was 50 years ago this month that the original "Age of Steam" exhibit was being created at Fair Park.  In preparation for the 1963 State Fair of Texas, the small attraction received two additional items during the month of August:  recently retired Dallas Union Terminal steam locomotive #7 and Southern Pacific's Eakin Street Yard Office (H&TC Depot). 

Now 50 years later, an era is drawing to a close as trackage is being dismantled at the Fair Park site.  Nearly 2,000 feet of track that displayed some 28 pieces of vintage rolling stock is being pulled up this week.
