Phase II Construction Underway

Thanks to a generous contribution from FCS Construction of Frisco, Phase II work at the Museum of the American Railroad officially began today.  FCS has graciously agreed to provide all of the grading portion of the project, including achieving final elevation of the remainder of the 12.34 acre site and groundwork for future track construction.

Work includes preparation of roadbed surfaces and application of flex-base material for the installation of the Museum's ten exhibit tracks, and the creation of surface profiles that accommodate drainage.  Over 10,000 cubic yards of soil will be moved as part of the grading process.  Once grading and soil compaction is complete, some 5,500 tons of limestone will be placed to serve as base for the 6,300 feet of exhibit trackage to be constructed at a later date.

The Museum is very grateful to FCS, a Frisco-based company with strong family ties in the community.  The contribution represents the first major private gift from Frisco.  It demonstrates the effectiveness of public-private partnerships with non-profits.  Phase I construction of the Museum's new facility was made possible largely with funding from the City of Frisco.  Phase II will rely on additional private support.  To learn more about the project, click here
